There have been some significant changes to the CANSkate and Junior programs for the up coming season. Skate Canada has mandated some changes to the way skating programs will be operated including the NEW MANDATORY HELMET POLICY for CANSkate and ADULT CANSkate members up to and including stage 5 level. This policy comes into effect 1 July 2011 and will be enforced for the upcoming season. Another big change to be gradually introduced over the next couple of  seasons is the introduction of the LONG TERM ATHLETE DEVELOPMENT program. This program will change the way the CANSkate, Junior and STARSkate programs up to the Junior Bronze level will be operated. Please feel free to contact any of our coaching staff for further information.

FUNDRAISING and VOLUNTEER Support

Fundraising projects, our skate-a-thon and Little Ceasar’s are very important to the success of the club and our skaters. These projects help to offset the cost of club operations throughout the regular season. It has always been the clubs desire and promise to, not only provide the best programs possible, but to ensure our programs can be available to all in our community who want to skate. Fundraising efforts allow us to pass the savings on to our membership. By keeping the cost of our programs down, provides the opportunity for more skaters in our community to participate.  With the help of dedicated parents and the support our community, we can strive to make sure that anyone who would like to skate has the opportunity to.  We will be having our Little Ceasar’s fundraiser again this fall with a couple of more fundraisers through out the season.  We want to remind all our families that we will be looking for ADDITIONAL VOLUNTEER SUPPORT for the 2011/2012 season to help give our skaters the best programs and club, we can possibly provide. If you would like to help on any level please see o a coach or one of the executive members.  Your support is greatly appreciated.  PLEASE VOLUNTEER AND SUPPORT YOUR CLUB

 Additional Notes:

CLUB INFORMATION

The Trenton Figure Skating Club is a not for profit organization governed by Skate Canada, and is administered by volunteers.  Our coaching team are Skate Canada Registered Professional Coaches. The Trenton Figure Skating Club has been a member of Skate Canada Eastern Ontario since 1957, and is proud to call the Duncan McDonald Memorial Community Gardens home.

We are looking forward to another successful season for all our skaters - Helmet Club through to Gold Level.  We have many exciting events planned for this season, and we hope everyone will participate and/or come out and enjoy the events.  Please do not hesitate to contact any member of the Administration Team with any questions or concerns.  We like to hear the positive comments too!!

A child’s participation in skating is important given its potential to improve physical fitness and confidence through learning skills and successes, promote fair play and to start lifetime interests, social skills and positive approach to competition.  Through participation in figure skating children can have fun, develop new skills, make new friends, feel good about themselves and experience personal growth.
